快乐
乐(le) sound like 六(liu) , that's why 6 is a lucky number in China, and its meant to bring your happiness. That's different for another culture. BE HAPPY!
It is hard to be happy in this world when people are trying to upset you. My dad used to tell me, people above you will try to push you down, and people below you will try to pull you down. We have to try to ignore and perceive their sarcastic comments as 'vomits'. People who are mean just lack self-esteem, the more they call you names , " the bigger they see their image or ego growing". It gives them false satisfaction. You know, sometimes people are mean without a reason? I mean, why use your energy on doing something negative, it's better to encourage people than to put them down right? Yeah, maybe you feel in power, but after that you'll kinda feel guilty. If you don't have that feeling, that means you're just so used to it, that you ignore what the little voice in you is trying to say. "Keep your cool!" Also, "Answer those unimportant people diplomatically".There is also a saying that we shouldn't get back on people, but we should do nice things to them. Sort of in a way, I wouldn't do this in truth, but after thinking for awhile, I realized that the more nicer things you do to 'them', the more they get annoyed. They'll wonder, how can you be so forgiving while they are being cruel to you?
Sometimes you also need to speak up for yourself. Don't just keep it to yourself. Find the source of your problem. It usually roots from one person. Talk and confront that person in a nice way and ask them not to bother you. If they persist on doing it, talk to someone who is wiser, like maybe a counselor or your parents. It's never to late to speak up, it's just the matter of when. Don't wait for another day to speak up, do it when the event occurred. Gather up the courage to talk back, it's your right. In overall, keep a calm outer appearance and say it without anger, though sometimes it's necessary.
Throughout the problems we have to know that many things in our lives happen for a reason. Today, I read a short text about being in a car wash. So, this guy talks about his experience using it and how he was irrational to think that the water would seep in his car. After the car wash, his car was squeaky clean. He compares this to the storms in our lives. And that we will come out on the other side. Seeing it from a Christian point of view, he says that during that time he knows that God will be with him through it.

However, some people prefer to think that life is a cycle and it will always go round and round. We will pass through the happiness and the sadness and the difficulty and ease all in a wheel. You can think it that way too. Always remember that throughout the process, after every event, we will eventually learn something and grow from the experience we gain.

-STARBUCKS-
Most of us are familiar with this coffee brand franchise. It was opened in 1971; the name was inspired by Moby Dick. Their mission: to inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time. It specializes in different coffees from around the world.
These are the logos:
Connection, coffee, and community, that was the aim of Starbucks. My favourite drink was green tea frappucino, then it changed to green tea latte, now I like vanilla cream frappucino ( suggested by a friend). The brownies and sandwich there is also good.
What makes Starbucks so popular unlike other coffee shops? I guess it's the environment and comfortable sofas. In addition, there are different types of coffee bean used to make the drinks. The food was also made from fresh ingredients. Though sometimes they couldn't whip up a perfect whip cream, I admit that Starbucks is a good hang out place to "chillax"= chill and relax ( gotten from an episode in 'Glee'). Noted, there is also free Wi-fi connection.
I still don't understand why they use a mermaid for a logo. What does that mean? It does not really show about seafaring. More like, beautiful exotic thing. It does not connect to their aim. Though I like the second design, I don't agree for the third one to be used in 2011. I mean, the second one is a classic and is liked by many peers.
Overall, Starbucks is a good example of how a business can expand when someone invests in it and explore its plus points. I believe that Starbucks will continue on growing and be successful in creating new products. That's the thing I want to talk about! Putting your heart into some work, it will always come out satisfying. It doesn't matter if its perfect, what matters is that you did your best, that's what counts.

Thomas Alfa Edison, happy birthday!
A little background info on Thomas. He was born on February 11, 1847 and died on October 18,1931. He is famous for making the light bulb happen. Without him we would suffer nowadays. How can we live without light? I mean how to shower at night, eat, or even study? How could he do that? So,he decided when he was young to study hard, he said :" My mother was the making of me. She was so true, so sure of me; and I felt that I had something to live for,someone I must not disappoint."(Wikipedia,2011) Now, don't get me wrong. He was a smart guy, but his mind wandered somewhere else during school. One of his famous quotes , and I bet you guys have already know this. Wait..wait..wait for it ( Barney's line in 'How I met your mother'), the quote says, "Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration." That is so widely known. I don't know if this quote is actually true, because I haven't thoroughly experienced it. Maybe you guys can share it here in my blog?
I mean it's hard to be hardworking and diligent nowadays, with all the distractions, like: facebook, handphones, laptop, msn messenger, twitter. How can we do school work and study? Even some of the teachers in my IB school say later in year 11 , you have to at least study 3 hours a day. I mean let's be reasonable. What if I have a lot of activities? Like private lessons or gym or extracurricular activities and that my journey home would take for instance, 1 hour? Maybe, what the teacher's are saying is the standard for everyone. Maybe we can be creative and find a different way to get our work done. For me, I have a resolution for this year to review my schoolwork everyday after school for about 30 minutes, that's reasonable right? Or some, that are capable can just listen to the teachers at school? And, that's just enough for them. Or listening to music while doing your homework? You know what, at first, you'll feel lazy, but as you go on, and get it done, there will be this sense of satisfaction. I want to try hard and get good marks now. I want to be diligent.haahaha. I feel that some of my friends in the old school are busy and meticulous, I feel challenged. But in truth, I want to do it for myself, for the benefit of me.
